Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from patients and their families. Can't find your answer? Give us a call — we're happy to help.
What is hemodialysis and how long does a session take?
Hemodialysis is a treatment that does the work your kidneys can no longer do. A machine gently filters your blood to remove extra fluid and waste, then returns the clean blood to your body.
A session usually takes 3 to 4 hours. You will be seated in a comfortable reclining chair the whole time, and our nurses will check on you regularly. Many patients rest, read, or watch TV during their treatment.
How often will I need dialysis?
Most patients need hemodialysis three times a week, for example every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Your own schedule depends on your condition. Your nephrologist (kidney doctor) will prescribe how often you need treatment, and we will help you find session times that fit your routine.
Does PhilHealth cover my dialysis sessions? What does "no cash-out" mean?
Yes — Fidelis Dialysis Care is PhilHealth accredited, and qualified PhilHealth members can have their hemodialysis sessions covered.
“No cash-out” means that for qualified members, the PhilHealth benefit covers the full cost of the treatment session, so you do not pay anything out of pocket for the dialysis itself. The only separate cost is the Erythropoietin injection (a medicine that helps maintain your hemoglobin), which PhilHealth does not cover.
Our staff will help you process your PhilHealth requirements. Just bring your PhilHealth details when you visit and we will guide you through it.
What do I need to bring on my first visit?
You will need a few documents from your doctor and your previous dialysis center, such as your physician’s dialysis order, recent treatment flowsheets, laboratory results, and your hepatitis status.
We keep the full list on one page so you can print it and check items off: see Your First Visit for the complete checklist and what to expect on your first day.
If you are missing anything, call us first — we can often help you sort out the requirements before you come in.
Do you accept transient or traveling patients?
Yes! If you are visiting Lipa City or Batangas and need to continue your regular dialysis sessions, we would be glad to accommodate you.
Please call us ahead of your trip so we can reserve a slot and tell you exactly which documents to bring from your home dialysis center.
What should I bring during my regular sessions?
We recommend bringing:
- A blanket or jacket. Treatment areas are kept cool for hygiene and comfort, and many patients feel cold during dialysis.
- Something to pass the time — a book, phone, or headphones. You can also watch TV.
About food: we highly discourage eating during treatment because of infection control, but light snacks are allowed, especially for diabetic patients. If you’re not sure what’s okay to bring, just ask our nurses.
Can someone accompany me during treatment?
Yes — we understand that having a family member or caregiver nearby is comforting, especially on your first visits.
Companions are welcome, but they will be asked to stay in the waiting area for the duration of the hemodialysis session, except when necessary. This helps us keep the treatment area safe and clean for all patients.
What are your operating hours and session schedules?
- Treatment hours: 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Office hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Dialysis sessions run in scheduled shifts during treatment hours — call us and we will find a shift that works for you.
Where are you located and is there parking?
We are at the Jiao Medical Building, J.P. Laurel Hwy., Brgy. Sico, Lipa City, Batangas — right along the highway, easy to reach by car or public transport.
Yes, parking is available at the building.
See our Contact & Location page for a map, plus one-tap buttons to open directions in Google Maps or Waze.
How do I transfer from another dialysis center?
Transferring is simpler than most patients expect:
- Call us so we can check schedule availability and walk you through the process.
- Request your records from your current center — your physician’s dialysis order, your latest treatment flowsheets, recent laboratory results, and your hepatitis status. (The full list is on our Your First Visit page.)
- Bring the documents on your first session. Our staff will handle the rest, including PhilHealth processing assistance.
We will coordinate with you at every step so there is no gap in your treatment.
